the third senshi to appear, sailormars is a passionate fighter and always stands up for what she believes in. she has control over fire, and is believed to be one of the most powerful inner senshi. in her human form, hino rei is just as passionate. she seems to have psychic powers, sensing coming danger. she attends t*a private girls' academy, where she is practically worshipped. rei lives in the hikawa-jinja (a shinto temple) with her grandfather. rei's father works for the government, and she rarely, if ever, sees him. rei's mother died when she was younger, and she has no siblings.

rei is a very spiritual young woman, striving to be a shinto preistess. she seems to have psychic powers, having a sixth sense about certain people and things. as a sailor senshi, this proves to be a quite useful trait. at school, rei is treated much like royalty, and is idolized by most (if not all) the students there. although hino rei often seems callous toward her friend and leader, usagi, she really DOES care about her. i think she just has trouble getting her true feelings across.

sailormars's different transformations and attacks

*mars power, make-up!*-- sailormars' first transformation. used during all the first season, and most of the second.
*mars star power, make-up!*-- sailormars' second transformation. used in late sailormoon R, all the way to sailormoon SS.
*mars crystal power, make-up!*-- sailormars says this to transform into supersailormars, beginning in early sailormoon SS. this is her last transformation.
*akuryou fuji no ofuda!*-- used by EITHER rei or sailormars, she holds up an o-mamori ("charm") and chants the following: "rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. akuryou taisan!" (akuryou taisan means "away, evil spirit").
*fire soul!*-- sailormars brings her hands together, and shoots a stream of fire at her enemy with this attack.
*fire soul bird!*-- sailormars uses an o-mamori and creates a fire bird. this is much like fire soul, only more powerful.
*burning mandala!*-- numerous rings of fire surround sailormars, and she concentrates them all into one, then hits her enemy with them.
*flame sniper!*-- my favourite attack, sailormars uses a huge bow and arrow made of flames, and shoots the arrow at an enemy.
